Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to get a Private Pilot Certificate?
Most students complete their private pilot training in 6-12 months, depending on weather, scheduling, and how frequently you fly. The FAA minimum is 40 hours, but most students finish around 50-60 hours.
What are the medical requirements?
You'll need an FAA medical certificate. A 3rd class medical (the most basic) requires you to be able to see, hear, and be in generally good health. Most people can qualify. We can recommend local Aviation Medical Examiners (AMEs).
How much does flight training cost?
Costs vary by program and how quickly you progress. Private pilot training typically ranges from $10,000-15,000. We offer transparent pricing and will provide a detailed cost breakdown during your consultation. Pay-as-you-go or package options available.
Can I train while on vacation?
Absolutely! Many students combine flight training with a Maui vacation. We can structure intensive training programs for visiting students. We also offer discovery flights if you just want to try flying.
Do you offer financing?
While we don't offer in-house financing, we can refer you to aviation-specific lenders like AOPA Finance. Many students also use personal savings, credit cards, or personal loans.
What's the age requirement?
You can start training at any age! To solo, you must be 16. To earn your Private Pilot Certificate, you must be 17. There's no upper age limit - we welcome students of all ages.
